Meet the Team

  • Ety Benichou, PE SE

    FOUNDER & CEO

  • Professional Experience:

Ms. Ety Benichou launched EB Structural Engineering, an SBE and WBE, in 2024. Prior to starting her own firm, Ety worked at Englekirk from 2001, starting as a young graduate from UCLA and growing to become an Associate Partner. After Englekirk's acquisition by WSP, a larger global entity, Ety extended her career as a Senior Vice President until 2024.

Over the past couple of decades, Ety has successfully designed and completed a significant range of projects throughout California. Her versatile experience in different structural systems has allowed her to excel in various sectors, including institutional facilities like student centers, civic centers, and federal courthouses, as well as commercial projects such as residential, regional retail, office, mixed-use, hotels, and parking structures. Ety began her career working with world-renowned architects like Cesar Pelli, Tadao Ando, Richard Meier, and Mehrdad Yazdani on high-profile landmark projects in California.

However, for the past decade, Ety has focused on the housing sector in California, designing thousands of units in both affordable and market-rate sectors.

During her tenure with Englekirk/WSP, Ety developed extensive experience in designing various types of structures, including structural and light-gage steel, cast-in-place concrete, masonry, and wood structural systems, with a particular specialization in modular and prefabricated systems. Leveraging her experience with mixed-use developments, Ety has integrated solutions to address affordable housing needs through wood-over-podium construction alternatives. She has actively disseminated these advances through work sessions with framers, general contractors, peers, developers, and architectural colleagues.

Given her interest in promoting new sustainable structural systems, Ety became the west-coast representative of WSP’s International Panel of Mass Timber Experts. In this role, she has spearheaded the mass timber expansion in California through numerous lunch-and-learn seminars, informing architects, developers, and general contractors about the vast opportunities within mass timber systems and introducing them to suppliers to help strategize pricing solutions.

Driven by her desire to inspire, Ety accepted the position of Adjunct Professor at UCLA's Civil Department for a capstone class on the introduction to structural systems in 2023.
